PTO COMMITTEES

As a PTO, we rely on the volunteerism and generosity of every parent to give our school and children the best start in life & education.  Some of our committees and events are fun, some of them education, but they all enrich Tootin' Hills School community and set us apart.  We are ALWAYS in need of volunteers & your help.  For ways to get involved in general, please e-mail Feyza (f.menagi@gmail.com) to discuss opportunities! Below is a list of all committees.

5th GRADE CAMP JEWELL COMMITTEE

Coordinates Camp Jewel fundraising activities including the Election Day Bake Sale and Pasta Night.

 

6th GRADE YEAR END ACTIVITIES

Lisa H., Monica M., Stephanie H., & Megan T.

Coordinates with 6th grade parents to compile the yearbook, 6th grade t-shirt and end of year party for our 6th graders.

 

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Feyza M.

Coordinate after school enrichment activities or clubs for Tootin' Hills students.

ART COMMITTEE

Feyza M., Monica M., Rachele K., Lindy P., Olga G., Sarah L., & Marla P.

Helps organize the Halloween Trunk or Treat event, Valentine's Day Craftstravaganza, & coordinates with the art teachers on the end of year Student Art Show and Ice Cream Social.


BEAUTIFICATION OF SCHOOL GROUNDS

Coordinates the beautification of the school grounds spring & fall.

 

BOOK FAIR BY SCHOLASTIC

Coordinates the Scholastic Book Fair fundraiser in fall & spring, and the reading nights.

CULTURAL ENRICHMENT

Cultural Enrichment Committee sponsors 2-3 cultural performances throughout the school year across all Simsbury Elementary Public Schools.

 

DUCK RACE FUNDRAISER

Join us for a great community event and the PTO's single biggest fundraiser as we float hundreds of ducks down the Farmington River for a chance to win one of several great prizes.  

FAMILY GAME NIGHT

Sarah T.
Sarah Taggart coordinates a "Tootin’ Night" at local sporting arenas & games such as Wolfpack & Yard Goats.

FUN RUN

Jen I.

Assists the PE Teacher in organizing a fun run during school hours for kids to celebrate the importance of fitness.

 

LIBRARY/MEDIA CENTER 

Megan T.

Coordinates volunteers to help staff the media center and the year-end Summer Book Swap.

 

LYMAN PIE & COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER

Megan T.

A fall fundraiser with Lyman Orchards.  Distributes information on ordering and coordinates the November delivery of orders at school.

 

NEW FAMILY WELCOME

Sarah L.

Creates a Welcome Basket with local community and school information for new families that arrive during the school year.

PHOTOGRAPHY NIGHT

Jen K.

Coordinates a fundraiser with local professional photographer, Paul Cryan.

 

Project Outreach

A long-standing Tootin’ Hills community outreach tradition collaborating with ImmaCare (the Immaculate Conception Men’s Shelter in Hartford).  Includes PB&J sandwich making for 4-6th graders, and running Donation Drives.

ROOM PARENT COORDINATORS

Coordinate the Room Parents for every class and handle email communication between the PTO & Room Parents.  

SKI CLUB

Caitlin R. & Gretchen F. (Ski_Tootin@yahoo.com)

Coordinates after school ski program at Ski Sundown for students in grades 3-6.  Arranges sign-up, chaperones and snacks and transportation.

 

SPIRITWEAR

Sally C.

Selects and coordinates with vendor for annual spiritwear merchandise.

SUMMER READING BOOK SWAP

Maya S. & Jen K.

Coordinates the annual free book swap at the end of the school year.

 

TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION DAYS

Stephanie H.

Event plans during parent-teacher conferences and organizes lists/gifts for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

TOOTIN’ DANCE NIGHT

Coordinates with Student Council to plan the school dance.

 

WALK/BIKE TO SCHOOL

Organizes the national Walk/Bike to School event twice a year.
