PTO COMMITTEES
As a PTO, we rely on the volunteers and the generosity of parents to give our school and children the best start in life through education and activities that build community. Some of our committees and events are for fun, some are educational, but they all enrich Tootin' Hills School community and set us apart. We are ALWAYS in need of volunteers & your help. GRADE SPECIFIC

5th GRADE CAMP JEWELL COMMITTEE
Coordinates Election Day Bake Sale and Pasta Night.
6th GRADE YEAR END ACTIVITIES
6th grade t-shirt and end of year party for our 6th graders.

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE, 6th grade
​Coordinates with 6th grade parents to compile the yearbook for our graduating class.
SOCIAL ​& CULTURAL EVENTS
​
FALL BACK TO SCHOOL PICNIC
Organizes a fun family picnic with games to welcome students back to Tootin Hills.
WALK/BIKE TO SCHOOL
Organizes the national Walk/Bike to School event twice a year.
​
FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Coordinates and implements a family fun night such as Bingo night. ​
TOOTIN’ DANCE NIGHT
Coordinates with Student Council to plan the school dance.
​
ART COMMITTEE
Helps organize the Halloween Trunk or Treat event, Valentine's Day Craftstravaganza, & coordinates with the art teachers on the end of year Student Art Show and Ice Cream Social.

CULTURAL ENRICHMENT
Cultural Enrichment Committee sponsors 2-3 cultural performances throughout the school year across all Simsbury Elementary Public Schools.

LOGISTICS & SCHOOL MAINTINENCE

SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST COORDINATOR
Enters school supply lists from each grade into Target site for families to purchase easily.​​
PARENT REPRESENTATIVE
Creates a Welcome Basket with local community and school information for new families that arrive during the school year. Communicates with teachers and staff to create a Holiday Wishlist.​​

ROOM PARENT COORDINATOR

Coordinate the Room Parents for every class and handle email communication between the PTO & Room Parents.

BEAUTIFICATION OF SCHOOL GROUNDS

Coordinates the beautification of the school grounds spring & fall.

LIBRARY/MEDIA CENTER
Coordinates volunteers to help staff the media center and the year-end Summer Book Swap.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
Maintains the Tootin' Hills Little Free Library in front of the school.
​
TEACHER APPRECIATION

TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
Event plans during parent-teacher conferences and organizes lists/gifts for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

Selects and coordinates with vendor for annual spirit wear merchandise.

WOLFPACK NIGHT
Coordinates with the Wolfpack Events contact, tracks ticket sales, advertises the event within the school.

YARD GOATS NIGHT
Coordinates with the Yard Goats Events contact, advertises the event within the school, tracks ticket sales & assigns tickets.

LYMAN PIE & COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER
A fall fundraiser with Lyman Orchards. Distributes information on ordering and coordinates the November delivery of orders at school.

BOOK FAIR BY SCHOLASTIC
Coordinates the Scholastic Book Fair fundraiser in fall & spring.
READ-A-THON FUNDRAISER
Join us for a great community event and the PTO's single biggest fundraiser as we float hundreds of ducks down the Farmington River for a chance to win one of several great prizes.

GOLDEN TICKET FUNDRAISER
Oversees the Golden Ticket (a/k/a Chocolate Bar Fundraiser) including recruiting volunteers to help wrap the bars in their Tootin Hills wrapper, track purchases, distribute bars and facilitate prizes.
PHILANTROPY

PROJECT OUTREACH
A long-standing Tootin’ Hills community outreach tradition collaborating with ImmaCare (the Immaculate Conception Men’s Shelter in Hartford). Includes deli sandwich making for 4-6th graders, and running Donation Drives.
